This is one of the most beautiful places we found on Anglesey, you can park right down by the harbour, where you can walk along a quite seafront or sit down a watch the day go by. If you walk back over the road bridge and follow path down to the right, through the back of the houses and follow the road down and you will find an opening onto the harbour wall, find a bench, sit and enjoy the peace.

We parked up in the town, but was disappointed, as there weren’t many shops and vary drab! The harbour is further along, if you stay on the main road and follow the sign for Amlwch Port, you will find a small car park, from there you can walk down along the harbour. You may be able to drive left of the car park, along the top road and then left down along the harbour to the end near the visitor centre, however we didn't walk up to the visitors centre, so we are not sure if there is parking there.

We drove down and parked up in the small car park for only a few minutes, but it looked very pretty.

Here you will find road side parking, right next to the beach and picnic benches on a small grassy area to the right, there is another car park further along on the right. There is a small shop and cafe for refreshments, but most of all, a massive beach!

This is definitely bigger and more popular than most places on Anglesey and has a massive car park on the front. The pier was under refurbishment when we came, but we still had a nice walk along the front. The castle looks very pretty and at only £3.80 per adult (price March 2012), it may be worth a look, if that's something of interest to you. I didn't manage to take as many pictures, as we were too busy looking in shops on the high street and eating ice cream.

When visiting here, you can have a choice of two paths to take, one is a flat, wide gravel, path at the top of the car park and is ideal for pushchairs, wheelchairs and anyone who is a little unsteady on their feet. The other, at the bottom right of the car park, is a more daring cliff top narrow path, which is NOT suitable for those who are unsteady on their feet, kids and people who don’t like heights, although I don’t like heights, but I was fine with it. If you do wish to take kids, then I suggest you take them along the gravel path, but I would strongly advise keeping them strapped in a pushchair, considering the dangerous cliff edges nearby. When you reach the end, there is a fantastic view of the lighthouse and an RSPB bird watching building. There is another car park further along, which we believe is for the cafe, however we visited out of season and didn't drive further along the road.

This is a small beach, further east from south stack. There is a small car park, toilets and some picnic benches, but you could also walk futher out to sea.

Holyhead - Visited 2012
Being a busy port, it was a little bit industrial, however the town is not far from the Travelodge we stayed at and there is also the Penrhos Industrial estate one junction up off the A5, which has a Morrisons, Tesco, KFC and ASDA and McDonalds is also near to the Travelodge. We only drove past the town centre, which looked a little hilly in places, but can’t comment on the shops. You can also go down to the Marina, which is a nice place for a walk, with no noisy amusements or shops and you can sit and watch the ferries come in. Everything considered, this is a nice base for travelling around Anglesey and Holy Island.

We drove through here, but the shops were closed, so we didn't stop. We carried on back towards Holyhead and found a layby with a great view of the bridge.
