Whilst researching for our upcoming visit to Stratford-Upon-Avon, I came across the MAD museum, normally museums are not usually our thing, however as the name “MAD” suggests, this was no typical museum, MAD stands for Mechanical Art and Design.
The museum is located just off one of the main streets in Stratford-Upon-Avon, arriving at the top of the stairs you get an idea of what you are about to see, with a complicated metal frame ball run. As you enter you arrive in the shop section, with the counter straight in front of you and once you’ve paid entry, the entrance is a barrier to the left.
A member of the team gave us a brief intro to the museum and then left us to look around, it’s not a big museum, but there’s a lot to see, most exhibits are not very big and almost all of them have a lit white button underneath for you to press and watch.
The thought, detail and hard work that has gone into the making of the exhibits is impressive and makes you wonder where they get their inspiration.

Below are a few videos of some of the many mechanical extractions on display.
