_Saint Gilles Croix de Vie
This beautiful town has a lot to explore, separated into 2 parts by the water, one side is mainly a port and the other side is a Marina and when you crossed the bridge, you could head directly up one of the main shopping streets.

We stopped here for a quick look and something to eat, being one of the larger towns, there are many shops to look around and a massive marina area, with many restaurants. You could easily spend half a day or more here looking ‘round.

_Saint Jean de Monts
This is a lovely place and although it had a smaller town than some other places had, it did have an excellent massive long beach!!

When we visited, there was a lovely little market on, the main building with the lighthouse tower was directly in front of us. Behind the main building, there is a smaller building with a smaller tower and a gift shop. At the side of this smaller building was a ramp, leading you to a pathway running parallel with the beach, (although we didn’t see a way onto the beach), the beach had loads of towers, built with pebbles. This is a great little place to visit and there is a small cafe if you wanted to get a drink or snack.

On the island of Ile De Re, we stopped off at a small cafe at the side of the beach, on the south side of the island. We didn’t look around the town, but there is a beautiful beach and it was very peaceful, while we sat drinking coffee. We did drive back through the town, as we left Ile De Re, but didn’t have time to stop and look, so we will have a look at the town, next time we visit Ile De Re.

Still on Ile De Re we also visited the lovely picturesque village of La Couarde-Sur-Mer, although we couldn’t find our way to the beach, there is a lovely street of shops and a church.

Also situated on Ile De Re, this small town has a lovely little marina, were we sat on a bench and had our sandwiches and coffee. There are some cafes across the road from the marina front and to get to the small town, you walked down a street, heading away from the marina. While walking towards the town, I noticed the window shutter stops, which I thought were quite interesting, due to the detail that had gone into making such a small important item, rather than a putting a simple metal bar there. At the centre of the town was a church, with a black and white spire and many shops.

_ St Martin de Re
This is the biggest village on Ile de re and is also my favourite! It’s a beautiful large harbour and large selection of shops as well. You could easily spend a day here shopping and there many restaurants if you want to stay for a meal.

_ La Flotte
This lovely place is basically a smaller version of St Martin, but still a beautiful place in it’s own right.

This is only a small place, so there is not a lot there, however there is a market on a Wednesday. |
_ La Liniere
There aren’t many shops here, but another beautiful large marina.

There is a small beach, we couldn’t find any shops and the marina was inaccessible from where we were.
