We have visited Cannon Hall Farm several times and it is another great place to take the kids and has increased in size over the years and added new features. On arrival there is plenty of parking (£3 per car) to the left and right of the driveway entrance, and in summer on the right you can sit on the benches or grass and have a picnic. Food is not allowed to be taken into the farm, but if you do wish to take a picnic, you can get your hand stamped, come out for lunch and then go back in. There is also a large cafe if you prefer to buy and eat in, and during summer there’s also loads more seating outside the cafe, with some kiosk stands.
The farm has plenty of outside play areas for the kids, including a pipe maze, climbing frames and slides, with areas for all ages. To make this a great attraction in the winter months, they have recently added an indoor play area, which also has a cafe for the adults to get drinks and you can even take a tour around the farm on a tractor ride.
There is a selection of animals, mainly larger animals, but they even have ferret and sheep races, with ferret racing to the left as you enter, opposite the pipe maze. Walking past the ferret racing area you arrive at the round house, which has a gantry for you to look down on the animals.
When you walk back down from the round house, there’s the kids play area(s) on your left, but over to the right is the start of the large barns, firstly you walk through the small animal area, which has rabbits and guinea pigs that your kids can stroke when they have some out. The barns have been positioned perfectly, allowing you to enter at one end, go through each one, before exiting and on to the next; they house sheep, cows, goats and loads of pigs, including loads of babies when we visited and if you've picked up some
animal food when you first arrived, then here the kids can feed the animals in
a more fun way, by pouring the food down the shoots and turning the wheels.
On leaving you can visit the farm shop, which is a very good size and pick up something for tea. This truly is a great family attraction and would recommend visiting, the only criticism is the cost, it’s not alone, but it is another attraction for the kids, where the adults have to pay the same and in our opinion, the adults’ entry fee should be reduced, therefore encouraging people to spend in the cafe and shop.
