Field Barn Park
Stayed September 2015
My wife was driving and we had set the sat nav, however I remembered we needed to follow directions given on their website, just as the sat nav said we had arrived. The sat nav brought us to a junction, I dug out the instructions, but having not paid attention I wasn't sure which part we were at, so I saw an entrance with a gate and told my wife to turn around, however at this entrance was a small sign indicating we were actually heading the right way and needed to carry on a few more 100 yards, therefore the sat nav had brought us a few hundred yards short of the Field Barn Park entrance.
The site entrance is a dirt road on your right (extra large signage directing you would help), that turns immediately to the left as you enter and is very rough, however it looks like they make regular efforts to fill in the potholes, but be aware it is narrow, with few passing places.
When you arrive at the bottom, the large caravan on the right, with the little wooden sheds is the reception, so here you turn right the track straight in front of you leads down to the toilet block) to check in with reception.
The site layout is very simple, a (square shape) track running around the site, with pitches on either side of the track and a central planted area with bushes and maize. We were given pitch 13, a nice size pitch for our tent and car to easily fit on, pretty flat (a bit stony when putting pegs in, but assume this was added to help with drainage) and well looked after. The outer ring of pitches all appeared to have electric hook-up and a water point at every other pitch.

The toilet/shower block is a small building in the corner, some sites have more modern wooden lodge type buildings, however this was an older small stone building. The gents were in need of a refurb, with only two sinks, one right in the doorway and the other behind it, where everyone would need to walk past and a poor layout in my opinion. As with most sites, the ladies toilets had sinks in cubicles, whereas the gents weren't, leading me to assume that most sites assume men don't want any privacy and the taps were the shower head style that make it difficult not to spray water everywhere when u wash your hands. I felt the site is more for caravans/campers than tents and therefore the shower block is not high priority. The shower was very hot, powerful and although the cubicles were bigger than some we've used and unlike most they had plenty of hooks, they could do with a shower curtain to stop spray onto your shoes and clothes.
Keeping in touch with friends and family via messaging and social media was really easy, although there was WiFi near reception, there was just a picnic bench to sit at and no shelter from the rain, however both of us had good phone signal (O2 & EE) at our tent
In summary, the site was really nice and well kept, but the facilities let it down and we would probably look for a site with more modern facilities next time, especially if we were staying any longer than 3 nights, which is a shame based on it's ideal location and only a few minutes drive from Bourton centre.
