Tyn Cornel Campsite
We missed the turning at first, the sign being green blends in a bit and my wife wasn't quick enough to slow to turn. Luckily there was an entrance just after on the right, we were only in car so could turn around, however if you are towing it's a little tight turning into the site entrance, depending on the direction you come from and if you did miss the entrance, I don't how far you'd have to go to be able to turn a caravan around..
Straight after you've turned in, there's a bridge, which reviews had said is tight for caravans, not an issue for us and there's not much can be done, however the site had replied to say if you call them they would come out to help guide you, so worth noting if you are pulling a large caravan.
Reception is through the gates and right through the next gates, which was also where our email had told us we were pitched. There was nobody at reception when we arrived, but a note said they were 'around the corner cleaning the toilet block, so walked 'round and he (I assumed Stu, but not sure) said he’d be there in 5 minutes.
Check in was quick and easy, he took me 'round explained where the facilities were and pointed us to our pitch. As mentioned earlier, we were in the field/area straight down from the reception, it was mainly hard standing pitches, but this also had the hook-up pitches for tents.

We were pitched on number 13, a minor lope towards the back, but a good pitch, with enough space for our tent and the car. The pitch edges are marked by large stones at the back and lined with trees/bushes at the back. We were on the opposite side to the river, you couldn't see it, but you can head it, it's a good river fir kayaking.
At the end of the area we were in were two quite large pods, for those families that don't have or want to stay in tent. After the pods there was a gate, walking through the gate it took you up the side of the river and you can then cross a bridge to the roadside, where the path leads you to a water sports shop/company.
Back at site the facilities an outdoor washing up area, fridge and freezer, plus segregated bins for general/recycling waste. The indoor facilities were very clean and unlike some, plenty of them, with 5 sinks, 5 toilets and 4 showers in the gents. The showers were very hot, personally a little too hot, my biggest disappointment was the showers setup, the shower cubicle was literally just for a showering, you couldn't even put your towel in, as it would just get wet. Outside the two end showers are benches and hooks, the idea I assume is that's where you get dried and dressed, I prefer to get dressed in private, although it was quiet when we visited, so I had the area to myself.
The site is located just 10 minutes from Bala and 30 minutes from Betws-y-Coed, you can check out my reviews for places we've visited in Wales from our Wales main webpage here.
